BIO:
Born in Australia and raised between Spain and the United States, Evangeline Cachinero is a hybrid artist with the creative appetite of a hedonistic postmodern octopus. She works across a wide range of materials and technologies, creating objects and installations in both physical and digital forms.
Her work combines vibrant colour with a playful sense of material extravagance. Often visually dense and tactile, her images move between figuration and abstraction, suggesting familiar forms without fully revealing themselves. She embraces the visual tension between colour discordance, gestural awkwardness and beauty. Images and ideas frequently morph from one medium into another, taking on new forms.
Since 2012, Cachinero has created digital installations using an assemblage process, combining physical artworks with digital artworks, found objects, murals and imagined architectural spaces. These compositions blur the line between reality and fiction. More recently, AI has expanded the possibilities of these compositions, allowing her to develop increasingly elaborate environments and projects.
Artist-curation is an integral part of her practice. She treats exhibitions as artworks in their own right, bringing individual pieces together into a beautifully orchestrated chaos.
